The horses pictured below are permanent residents of our rescue.  Some have physical conditions that make them unadoptable, others have been donated to our rescue for retirement and/or for use as a lesson horse.  Consider sponsoring one of our residents.  To find out how, check out our Sponsorship Program.  All donations to help offset the costs of our retired residents are always appreciated.  As a 501(c) corporation, all donations are tax deductible.

Some of our residents are available for use in our Horseless Kids Program, please contact us to find out how your child can participate.

Fools Country King

King is a 29 yr. old registered Quarter Horse (Satchel Bars/Poco Bueno) gelding that arrived at the rescue in July of 2008.  He is a big boy standing about 15.2 hands tall.  He was used in Dressage Competition and has been retired to our rescue because he has become slightly navicular.  He can be used for light riding and teaching the fine art of dressage to novices.  Currently in foster care.

Jengibre Fuego

Gordy is a registered 26 year old Paso Fino gelding that arrived at our rescue in February 2008.  His owner was leaving for a tour of duty in Iraq and wanted a safe place for Gordy to retire.  Gordy does have issues with the ligaments in his front legs and can only be ridden very lightly.

Rosie

Rosie is a 15 year old Welsh/Clydesdale mare that was rescued in September 2006.  Her feet were in terrible shape when she arrived, however, Rosie's feet continue to improve but she could really use a sponsor to help with her farrier costs.  We have become quite attached to Rosie and because of her "special needs" (her feet), she will stay here as one of residents. If you would like to read more about Rosie, check out her story.  Rosie had a special visitor recently - her sponsor, Barb came to the rescue just to see her!!
Warning: some of the pictures on Rosie's page are disturbing.
Sponsored by:  Barb Armour, West St. Paul, MN; Allison Oja, Finland, MN  Currently in foster care.

Sadie

Sadie is an 19 year old sorrel/white overo Paint mare that came to us in July of 2005.  She is about 15.2 hands tall and is a real sweetheart.  She loves to be bathed and is a real treat hound.  In the past, Sadie was used for 4-H, showing, trail riding, and therapeutic riding.  Three years ago, she was diagnosed with lower ring bone in her front left leg and therefore cannot be ridden at this time.  With the proper veterinary care and corrective shoeing, she may be able to be ridden by a light weight rider.  Sadie will remain at the rescue and be used in the Horseless Kids Program.  Currently in foster care.

Skip

Skip is a 24 year old, buckskin Quarter Horse gelding that came to us in August of 2005.  He is about 15 hands and a very stock boy.  His previous owner rides and hunts a lot out west and because of Skip's arthritis, he was unable to make the hard rides and Skip was donated to the rescue.  He can be used for trail riding, showing and you can even shoot off of his back.  He will remain at the rescue and be used in the Horseless Kids Program. Currently in foster care.

Tessa

Tessa is a 15 year old registered Paint mare who was pregnant at the time of her arrival at the rescue.  Tessa's foal arrived May 30, 2007.  If you would like to read more about Tessa, check out her story (and pictures of Shydee).  Tessa is not available for adoption at this time.

Zanadu Miss

Bay is a 30 year old registered Quarter Horse mare that arrived at the rescue in July of 2007.  She stands about 15 hands tall and is very stout.  In the past, she was used for trail riding and loved every minute of it.  Bay will be available for use in our Horseless Kids program.  Currently in foster care.

Zippos
Comanche

"Slimer" is a 24 yr. old registered, sorrel Quarter Horse gelding that came to us in October of 2005.  He is an extremely large horse standing about 16.1 hands and weighing in about 1350 pounds!  In the past, Slimer was used for halter, Western Horsemanship, hunter under saddle, western pleasure, and hunt seat equation.  He was shown his whole life and now needs to have things settle down a bit.  We are pretty sure that he has navicular disease and he will need special shoes in order to be ridden.  He is having natural hoof trimming to help him walk a little more normally.  He came to us from a therapeutic riding stable and will now remain here at the rescue and become part of our Horseless Kids program.

If you would like to help with the costs of any of our permanent residents, please check out how you can donate.  Any and all donations are always appreciated.

If you have a horse that needs a safe and loving retirement home or a horse that would make a good lesson horse or would be a good fit for our Horseless Kids Program, please call us at 715-505-4107 or email us at rollingrockrescue@gmail.com **Because of fuel and feed costs, we do request a donation of at least $250 if it is necessary for us pick up a horse that is coming to our rescue.  This donation is tax deductible.**
