During the short time that Harley was with his foster family, he and Berdine became very good friends.  In fact, they were always together.  Harley would even share his hay cubes (when he was full, of course). 

His foster mom relayed the following story (just in case we thought she was kidding). 

Harley to the Rescue

While these two buddies where busy doing what buddies do,  Berdine became tangled in a rope and was unable to free herself.  Harley, knowing that he must help his little buddy, called and called to his foster mom in the house trying to get her attention.  Finally, after what must have seemed like -- well, like forever, his foster mom (Terri) came out to see what all the noise was about, found Berdine tangled in the rope, freed her and the two buddies went off on their merry way.
